But anyway this page is dedicated to the females of Final Fantasy History: Starting with Rydia of FF4 or FF2 in the U.S. Rydia was a young girl whose power was unbelievable when unleashed. As she was a child her mother was killed protecting thier village of summoners. A short while after her village was burnt down by the same people who killed her mother. As Rydia grew the very power she feared she learned to utilze her full abilities as possible the greatest summoner in Final Fantasy.
Next up is Rosa of FF4. Rosa is a white mage whose love is the head knight of a kindom. Rosa played the usuall female in distress that needed to be rescued. As the story progresses you see that her abilities as white mage plus her personality make her great character. Rosa is a beautiful woman with a pure heart that is filled with hope for a better future.
Lets jump to the next Final Fantasy which was FF5 with the Princess RENA. IN the beggining of the game RENA's father the king goes off to the Wind Shrine to see the Wind Crystal. Rena goes of to look for her father after he doesnt reurn for a while. Along the way she meets a boy named BUTZ I must emphasize this because of the PS name change. Anyway they meet up with an old man whose lost his memory named Galuf and a pirate named Faris. Well at this point RENA is looking for her father who dissapeared with the Crystal at the Wind Shrine. The story really gets deep and RENA feels that its her duty to help save the Crystals and the world. RENA didnt really seem like a good character to me but hey I am not exactly a gamegod. RENA was ur usual princess in an rpg. She wants to live a normal life but she feels saving the world is her duty. But she was a fairly good character and like all others she was pure hearted. She wasn't the stongest but she had her storng points.
Also from FF5 was a strange character i thought in Faris the pirate. Faris seemed like a real toughguy tomboy. As soon as you saw her you knew she was a girl but for some reason nobody else could? You could tell she had a real mysterious presence to her but you cant tell what. As you get further in the story u can see her character unfold espesially when you unknowingly return to her home. Faris was an overall alright character RENA was a little bit better but hey sometimes it just like that. Faris wasnt really a pure hearted girl on the outside because she hid it with her toughguy attitude.
Now a jump to FF3 or FF6. The main character of the game Terra arguable the greatest female character in a Final Fantasy. As a matter of fact in my opinion the greatest main character in FF history. Terra in the beginning of the story has no memory at all just her name. As the story progress you find out that Terra is blessed witht he gift of magic. At this point she is a total mystery even to herslef. All througout the story Terra is trying to find herslef, troubled because she doesnt quite feel emotions that everyone els around her does such as love. As you can tell Terra is constantly having trouble. In the middle of this things turn for the worse as she completly changes. Eventually as the story goes on Terra loses her will to fight because she thinks she has found love. But realizing that if she does not fight to protect the one's she loves being the only one who can love truly isnt there. Terra is a kind hearted girl whose uncertainty complicates her life, but with her incredible power nothing can truly stop Terra.
Also from FF6 my favorite character Relm. Relm is a free sprit artist, whose wit and adorable charm make for a very bad combination....for anybody whose against her. Relm is the grandaughter of a former Magitek soldier. She is blessed with the incredible gift to paint anything she see. Relm is brought into the story because she felt that letting her grandfather go to save the world would be too much for him. And to all those who don't like Relm your all just "Fuddy Duddy".
Another character from FF6 Celes. Celes is an orphen whose was taken and infused with magic by the Empire. Celes plays a somewhat intrquite part in the story. Celes a formal genreal of the Empire joins a resistance group know as The Returners because she sees the evil that the Empire has done. She then meets up with Terra and knows that Terra is the answer that to stop the Empire. Knowing that Terra has power to fight but wont Celes decides to use her power and fight. Celes is a beautiful, strong, but neive warrior with a heart as pure as gold.
Now moving on to one of the greatest Final Fantasy titles of all time FF7. To me the best character in FF7 was the Flower Girl Aeris. Aeris played an extremely big role in FF7. Seeming to be nothing more than just an ordinary girl who lived in the Slums. But for an unknown reason was being pursued by the Shinra Corporation. As Aeris was a child her mother was captured by the Shinra but managed to escape with her baby as she died she placed Aeris in the care of a woman living in the Slums. She raised Aeris as if she was her very own daughter never telling her what happen because she did not know how Aeris would take it. Turns out that she is the last surviving Ancient otherwise known as Cetra. As a child she always wondered why she could hear voices of people not around. Sensing when people souls return to the planet and join the Lifestream. The story really begins to pick up when the Shinra take her hostage so the can breed the blood of the Cetra to study for many liftimes. Later on in the story as the ever growing threat of Meteor summoned by Sephiroth heads towards earth Aeris realizes that she is the only one who can save the planet and sets out to do so. As Aeris prayed to the Holy Materia Sephiroth kills her, Leaving the world hopeless. The only thing left to do is kill Sephiroth for revenge. Aeris was a beautiful girl whose life was taken in for the good of the planet, she had a heart purer than anyone else on the planet.
Tifa also being from FF7 was a fairly good character. Even though she wasn't really a deeply involved character in the story it wouldn't of been the same without her. Tifa is a postive thinkin fighter who always looks for the better future rather then the bleak past. Tifa is a important part of the story as it pertains to Cloud dealing with his little identity crisis. Seeing how Tifa is the only person alive besides Sephiroth that knows Cloud from around the time of the incident at Nibelheim. Tifa has to help Cloud realize who he is, who he was, and who he will be simply Cloud. Throuhout most of the game Tifa deny's her feelings for Cloud but at the end reveals herself when helping him. Tifa is a strong, intelligent, beautiful character that set the stage for alot of today's rpg females even though her chest area was just a little exagerated(but im not really a breast man myslef so eh).
Yuffie another female in FF7 seemed more like a joke character to me than anything else. She most definatly didnt have anything to do with the story seeing how she is an optinal or secret character. Yuffie is a smart mouth, quickminded, materia stealing brat. But i cannot deny that in a fight she is a great character especially with her level 2 and 3 Limit Breaks.
In Final Fantasy 8 there was a great cast of characters especially the females. As a matter of fact they provided most of the interesting part of the story. Rinoa was tha main female character of the story. Rinoa at first was just a girl who was fighting for the independence of a city called Timber. Her rebel group was called the Forest Owls, they enlisted the help of Seed a special task force(pretty much mercenary). As the story progresses they find out that the real enemy is the Sorceress Edea. The Sorcercesses have plagued the world ever since there existence bringing fear, violence, and hatred to the world. As things become even more bleak the story really starts to heat up as it is found out the Rinoa is a Sorceress. Rinoa fears for the fact that she cannot control her powers as a Sorceress, with a promise from her love Squall that he will always be there as her knight she realizes that fear will only stop her from doing what is right. Rinoa is a beautiful, naive character who often depends to much on other people. But the fact of the matter is that she mostly plays the part of the female in distress needing to be saved plays perfectly into the story and in character.
Quistes played a somewhat signifigant part of the story in FF8. She was the first character you get along side the main character Squall. Quistes didnt really have a wide fan based personality(unless you count her groupies in the game). But she played the more motherish type even though she is the same age as everyone else in your party. As the higher ranking Seed member in the beginning she kind of orders the other around. As the story progresses she becomes less important and fades out somewhat. But when everyone remember there childhood together she comes back in for a bit. Quistes is a beautiful, smart, and strong character fighting wise, she is soft at heart when it comes down to it and mistakes a old friendship for love.
Selphie was a great character even though they almost completely left her out of the story. Selphie's happy go lucky approach to everything makes alot of people become annoyed with her. Selphie comes from another Garden then the others and meets Squall her first day at Balamb Garden. She then later joins them when giving a message to them on a mission. Upon becoming a Seed with Squall and Zell they become partners. Much later on in the story when they return the Selphie's home which had been bombed by the Galbidian army you see that everyone even at there moment of despair seems to be just as her personality and never gives up hope. Even though her persona may turn some people away from her you cannot deny that she has great fighting ability. Especially with her Limit Break "THE END"(the best move in the game).
Another one of the characters that played a large part of the game was the Sorceress Edea. Edea seeming to be the ultimate evil turned out to be the most pure hearted character in the game. As the game starts Edea was the cause of all the problems that Seed faced. And there main objective of Seed was always to prevent the Sorceress from gaining power. Seed set out to destroy her, but failed. When they finally made it back to Garden they found out that Edea was the wife of the Headmaster of Garden Cid. Later on in the story it is found out that a Sorceress from the future was controlling her all along. When she came to her senses it was also found out that she was the dear caring Matron of a certain group of orphans. In fact it was the very idea of Edea's to make Seeds to combat the Sorceress. Edea was in my opinion the best character in the game. She was strong, beautiful, evil hearted but at the same time the most gently and caring in the story.
Now on to FF9, before i get into it I just wanted to let it be known that i personally hated FF9 it seemed like the worst one. But anyway let us start with the main female Garnet or Dagger, she was an alright character once again we see the usual female in distress. But this time its a princess(surprise surprise)anyway in the begining of the game she is to be kidnapped. It just so happens that she wants to escape the castle. Going along in the story she finds out that her mother the queen wants her only for her ability of summon power or Eidlons. Well anyway as the story goes on she becomes a stronger person who wants to protect everyone in anyway she can. Dagger was an ok character in my book but when u play a few Rpg's it does begin to get old.
Next is Eiko, now this was an ok character because she reminded me of another Final Fantasy character(Rydia)and i thought that was pretty cool. Eiko is a child who is the lone survior of a village full of summoners that was destroyed. Eiko stayed in the village to protect the secret of the village. Eiko like Garnet has the ability to summon and has a very special summon of her own. Eiko enters in the story as the innocent but foward child(jus like Rydia). Having Eiko in the story didnt really effect the story jus added a little bit of depth into Garnets story.
Now unto a character i really liked Freya. At first i didnt really know what the heck Freya was but i knew she was a Dragoon even though Square kind of abandoned the whole job class thing after FF Tactics. Freya was an enjoyable character because she had the heart of a warrior but yet the only reason so was to find her love. Even though she didnt really play a major part in the story her presence made the game more enjoyable for me. Later on in the story Freya finds her love and has to come to terms with the fact that her love does not even remember that he loved her. As the story continues Freya realizes that she is in a situation more serious than just finding her love and decides to help the group. But anyway Freya was an outstanding character even though im not sure if she is a rat or a dragon????
Last But not least my favorite character in FF9 Beatrix. Now this was a really good chracter because she also reminded me of an older Final Fantasy character(Celes). At the point of the game when she was first introduced I thought that she was a great character not only because she was so strong the fact that she was evil. I mean we all know that in Rpg's the Badguys are usually the best(Magus, Sephiroth, Llyod, Id)need i say more. But one thing that brought her down to me is when she feel in love with Steiner????. I mean that can't be right Steiner ahh well there goes another good character taken down by the coroporate world.
